My connection to music and sound
I am originally from Estonia, where we often call ourselves the singing nation. Music has always been an important part of our culture. We have celebrated independence through songs and there are also many traditional songs connected to everyday life and work. In Estonia, we have something that is called regilaulud — simple, repetitive songs with a steady rhythm that carry movement and keep a certain flow.In my family, music was always present. I grew up surrounded by different instruments and singing. Even so, for many years I was not deeply involved in music and I did not study in music school. That changed later, when I found myself in a network of people who were singing together intentionally and for healing. In this kind of gatherings the purpose was not to sound perfect at all, but to resonate with the music, the rhythm and the flow. To connect with your own voice and through that, with something true inside yourself. This idea and experience spoke to me and over time I began leading these kinds of wokshops and evenings myself.Today I play guitar, ukulele, Indian shruti and some other instruments. My style is soft and simple and can offer moderate ambience to the room. I absolutely do not know all the music theory, chords or notes in a theoretical or even practical way, but I feel, I listen, and I follow resonance.I write songs and create little singing (voice opening) workshops. Some of my recordings will also be coming online soon. I make music in different languages, but a lot of my songs are actually just simple humming or one worded meditations. The goal for the participant is not always to understand everything, but to feel the music and to explore your own expression through it.
I host small gatherings and events, and I also offer voice exploration workshops. If my approach resonates with you, you are welcome to reach out and invite me to host your next event. I am especially open for intimate events like personal celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries..
